I have had the M3 occasionally throw a Check Engine Light with a generic error on the i-Drive saying “Increased Emissions”. Most of the time, the CEL will clear on its own after a few run cycles.
Over the last few months, I’ve had the CEL come up soon after leaving the house while waiting at a stop light. Both times it was the same code – 2B59. Other than my gas mileage getting worse, the car sounds, runs, and drives fine. But the gas mileage getting worse is an associated symptom of the thermostat not working properly, and the engine warmup taking longer than normal.
Since it’s come up twice in the last few months, I’ve gone ahead and ordered a new thermostat and sensor from ECS Tuning. It won’t be here until near the end of the month, but whatever.
